Wow got time

Wow finally made to the plot this week after nearly 2 weeks of trying, it's either been busy at home and work or it raining. I got here on Friday for a couple of hours I know it's not a lot but it's some, I managed to trim all the Tom plants and take up the cucumbers. Still have some tomatoes growing so chuffed with that, the cucumbers are a little fat and soft in the middle. Most likely get put on the compost heap ready for next year, the odd one may be ok will have to check and take home. The ones in the past had really hard skins so had to peel them first, which wasn't to bad to do but a pain for others.

I've took all my Netting down and stored away for next year,I may get a couple more years out of it fingers crossed. All the Sweetcorn had finished so all thats been took up and composted, all the cabbages and sprouts that had bolted have been removed also. While removing the netting and the timber / bricks that was holding down the netting, I found clumps of snails under the planks and bricks I soon got rid of them.

I'll try and not leave it so long before posting anything again, i do miss coming to the plot but things get on the way. Happy Digging one and all.

Not much going on down on the plot.

Not much happening down on the plot  had to remove all of the Jerusalem artichokes, only because the wind had blown them all over. Pulled them all up but I think I've left loads in the soil, in not bothered these will just grow again. Never really tried them before but I've seen that you can eat then raw and cook them,I have quite a few and I won't eat them all. So I'll save some to plant again and give some away,if I leave them to long they will go soft.

I've pick a few more bits to take home and still have few more bits to take home, no point bringing loads home it will only go to waste. I have plenty of over grown courgettes well marrows now, we won't eat them so these will be given away and composted.

Hoping to get to the plot a few times this week and get a few more bit done, I need to move some of the strawberries as I've planted them to close. I never learn I did get told that I've planted them too close, just didn't listen to them so now I wish I did.

Well that's dinner

Well that was some bits picked for dinner and we ate it all, feel well over fed now going to burst. Love taking the fruits of our labour home to eat, can't beat fresh produce to put on the table. Also made well making some beetroot wine and some pickled beetroot, cooked the beets and used juice for wine and rest in jars. Most of the veg was decent size but my best was my large carrot,I grow some in rubs and the ground . The ground grown ones was little out of shape, but the pot one was massive well it's the only one that made it. Will do some more in pots I think I even forgot to water it most times, but was chuffed when I took it home and scoffed it.

Spuds

Not been a good year for spuds down on the plot, don't think it was the spuds fault just nature. 90% of my first spuds (rocket) had holes in and 2nd early (Maris peer) small, even my main crop Desiree are all small and scabby. I did try three types of Desiree saved spuds / sprouting spuds and ones found in the shed, all of them are really small so don't think I'll save them again.  My melon was doing so well at the beginning and was looking forward to it growing, well it won't grow no more the bugs have had it. Bugger.
