Still growing.

Few squashes are still growing down on the plot but not as quick as I would like, other plot have massive squashes but mine are on the small size but still be tasty. Still plenty of peppers and toms I'm taking home and spuds, I've got loads of spuds to dig up so that's a job for this weekend I think. Also got some horse manure getting delivered this weekend, don't know if I'm leaving it to rot in a corner or put on soil.

We'll I need to pull finger out.

Well that week went fast and I've done nothing at all on the plot, done a few things at home and that's it. Well I have been busy at work also so I can't blame home for it, hope I can make it up to the plot this week. The last I made it to the plot I sorted the greenhouse out, so it's all weeded inside and all the toms and peppers have been trimmed. The pond and strawberry bed also got a good sort out, just the area around the the poly tunnel left to do. Also whatever else turns up I'll have to sort out,oh well I'll get back on top of it as soon as I get back to it.

Few bits this week.

Picked a few more treats up from the plot this week, I picked some brambles from the plot around pound in weight. I thoughts I would get loads of them to either eat or make wine, but half the plants have been hacked away because the plot holder doesn't want them. So I picked what I can and took them home and started to make some wine, I added them to 3lb of rhubarb and sugar and left to dissolve. When I went to strain the liquid I noticed some of the rhubarb had grown a fur coat, so I couldn't take the chance and use it just incase it was all infected. I did make some other wine with 3lb rhubarb 6 kiwi fruits and a orange, I've added them all together and it's bubbling away in a demijohn.

I'm still picking a few red toms and onions to take home, with the toms the ones I don't use I'm going to blitz them. After blitzing I'll freeze them and use instead of tin toms for curry's and spag Bol, the onions are nearly all sorted just taking the weak ones home. For what I've planted and what I've got lets isn't good, but at least I have some to last a few months. Tried my baby water melon it was ok but on the small side, still a treat to have one first time these have grown.

Look what I've got

Whoop whoop

Another quiet week .

Only been a few times this week but did a little more of my favourite things (weeding), got  a little bit left near the poly tunnel then that's it. Well still got both strawberry beds to sort out and sort runners out, either repot some or just cut them of and start again. The brassica section is covered in caterpillars that's what you get for leaving the netting up,I should of removed the netting once everything was strong enough to stand on it's own. That way the birds would pick the bugs and not the veg, most of the savoys have been eaten and the sprouts are holding the netting up.

I've removed some of the netting and will remove the rest once I go back, must try and remember next year to remove the netting.  I've picked some more veg to have for some of our teas, still a bit to pick but not as much as last year.  Most of the onions have been cleared of the bad ones just a few left to sort out, not going to have a lot of them but it's better than nothing.

Well that was a week.

Well that's was a week and half all the plans went out of the window, I took a weeks holiday to catch up on some work at home and allotment. spend half the week running back and fourth to hospital, mother hot took I'll but she's ok now. So I managed a couple of days on the plot weeding and doing bits as you do,also some decorating at home still loads to do. I'm still taking my first earlies up and 99% of them are full of holes so getting binned,my second earlies aren't to bad but still getting some rubbish ones.  All my broad beans have died on me and turned black, don't know if I'll save any for next year but I might.

I picked a few toms and a couple of small garlic cloves up.also the normal onions and cucumbers. My melons are growing slowly one in sat on a tray, the other one has got wedged in between the pallet frame. I got given a melon for another chap, but don't know what he's feeding them on because it's massive .
