Not much to report.

Not a lot done this week been a tad busy at work, done a few hours of weeding so it's not bad after all. Hoping to get to the allotment later on today and carry on weeding,well that depends on the weather if it's going to rain. My broad beans are growing quite good only problem it's the weeds that are holding them up,same as my pea onwards and sugar snap peas. Like I keep telling myself I've only one pair of hands,so I can't do everything in one go.

Some pictures of things growing in the greenhouse,I have 20 tomato plants / 7 cucumber plants and 23 pepper plants oh and 3 chilli plants. May of over done it on peppers and tomatoes.

Few hours done

Did a few hours at the allotment over the weekend some good and no so good, spent yesterday trying to sort the weeding out got a little done but loads left to do. I was getting to the stage it when it was getting on top of me, I
Did feel like giving it all up and handing keys in. But instead I finished what I was doing and went home,then went back today to do a little more.

So I spent the hours today repotting in the greenhouse as the soil was a little wet from all the rain last night,so now I can concentrate on doing some weeding the next time I go. So I repotted my chilli peppers/ Spanish peppers/ yellow Ringo peppers, i did mark the tubs either shop compost/ own compost or 50/50 mixture.I feel a little better now after today,the next time I can go now is tuesday.

More tomato plants planted.

I've planted even more tomato plants last week in the greenhouse, I think i have about 13 plants now. I have twice as much as i did last year just hope I have plenty of toms from the plants. The tomato plants that I planted this week were all put in grow bags, 3 beef tomato and 3 cherry Tom plants.

Tomato plants

Quick visit to the allotment last night just went to water inside the greenhouse,didn't water outside because the forecast was we would get rain on Thursday(we did).

While at the allotment I had to move around some of the tomato plants,it was getting a bit full so couldn't keep the toms tidy. So i moved some of plants to the other side and put a string line up for the plants to grow up,I still have a few plants to sort out into bigger pots or grow bags.

Cucumber plants

Went to the allotment last night to do some weeding but it was a little hard to dig, so going to wait till end of the week when it rains. So I trimmed the grass / weeds along the fence with the strimmer,so that looks a little better for now.

I also planted my last 4 cucumber plants in the greenhouse, I put 3 in a tub with 50/50 split between compost and manure. Also planted one plant with just shop bought compost,So I will see what grows best over the next few months.

Cucumber and toms planted

Only had a quick visit to the allotment this afternoon,watered all that's in the greenhouse and sorted some bits out. I've potted 3 more tomato plants f1 Shirley's into buckets filled with just homemade compost,still have a few more to plant so thinking of what to use next. I also planted 3 cucumber plants into some old recycling boxes filled with homemade compost, the next ones will be planted in compost and manure.

Forgot to say I found a turnip in between the weeds.

Weeding and bent trowel

Two section that I got weeded was a section under the netting, also a section near the onion bed. I have made a start on the onion bed, so I need to Finnish that section the next time I go. Oh year I have bent another trowel,I can seem to make them last .

Have done a bit.

Have been to the allotment a few times this week but kept fallen asleep once I've got home, so haven't blogged much this week but I wanted to but it's hard when your asleep. While at the plot I needed to do a lot of weeding which has gone a bit mad,some of the weeding went ok but other section were a little hard to do.

I still have a lot of weeding to do but will have do a bit every time I go down and keep an eye on it,I know it's an ongoing thing but wish i could just get rid of them once and for all.

While weeding i did some other bits I planted some more white cabbages,have got some red ones and Celtic and savoy ones to go in. Ive managed to plant my sunflower plants against a metal frame to support the plants,also planted some sweetcorn / pumpkins / courgettes.

Not going to get a lot done this weekend as we are away for a few day,well it is our Anniversary so

Not a lot done.

Went to the allotment yesterday and the second I got out of the van it started to rain,so all the plans I had had gone out of the window. I thought it was going to rain today so I didn't go to the plot, guess what it didn't rain oh bugger.So
only did a little bit inside the green house, I repotted some sweet peppers and planted some tomato plants. The Tom plants were planted tubs and grow bags,3 plants in grow bags and 3 in tubs filled with grow bag soil. I'm going to plant some toms in homemade compost to see if i have any look with it. So I have eleven plants at the moment.

Trying a new way of growing tomatoes.

Trying a another way of growing some a tomatoes in the greenhouse,last year I had them in grow bags and in floor. This year I'm trying plastic buckets instead, but ma need more space. I opened a grow bag up and split it between the buckets well 5 buckets, then topped it up with my own compost and mixed it together and planted some plants.

I will try just some grow bag mixture in some other buckets and see how the toms will grow, i will also put some plants inside the grow bags as well to see how them lot will grow.I have enough plants to try it but it's the space in the greenhouses that I need.

Little more crossed of the list.

Went to the allotment for a few hours yesterday and today in between the rain, I put out two rows of leeks about 42 leeks in total so that's another one ticked of the list to do jobs. Also sowed some winter leeks in the green house ready for later on in the year,saying that I didn't eat all of them last years I've just finished putting them on the compost heap.

I sowed some lettuce seeds in the greenhouse which I should of done a little while ago, I sowed about 12 seeds so I will wait a little while before I sow some more. I've repotted some flower seeds again and put some outside to harden off,I do to many flower which I don't need to do I should concentrate on basket flowers.

Little more planted.

Got a few more bits planted yesterday but got bugger all done today,I managed to plant some white cabbages and half a dozen red. Also a row of broccoli got planted,I have re potted some savoy cabbages and sunflowers plants. Everything that I have planted I have put under some netting,but getting to the stage now that I will be running out of soon.

A few months ago I planted some garlic but had to it all out, all of the garlic had bolted and going to seed. The garlic was the sons garlic he was throwing it away,so I thought I would see if I could grow it from shop bought garlic. It has quite large bulbs,but when you take the outer skin off it has smaller ones inside. I have read on the net it's still safe to eat when it's started to bolt,it just has a weaker flavour than the rest.

Compost

When I was planting the beetroot and cabbages I normally put some compost in the soil, so I decided to use some of my own what's been getting ready all year. Can't believe how it's broken down into some good stuff,it seemed that good that i didn't want to use it and wanted to save it.

Birds nest empty.

The birds nest we have been looking at over the last few weeks is all empty now,didn't take long for them to leave the nest and start a new life. Good luck little birds.

Yeah got something planted

Had a good few hours on saturday at the plot doing a bit of this and that,I have managed to plant some beetroot and red cabbage. I would of planted more but it was getting quite late,also did some weeding so it's looking better. Well thats was until yesterday when it rained all day, I know the veg got watered but so did all the weeds. Hoping to get to the allotment after dinner today to try and get some more planted, but i can hear the rain still so may have to get the water butts sorted.
