Savoy and Celtic Cabbage planted

Been to the allotment for 6 hours yesterday and it passed so quickly i managed to plant some cabbages well 2 types anyway, i know its early but they are getting a little big in the greenhouse. I planted about 34 Celtic Cabbages and 39 Savoy Cabbages, so if you need one just give us a call. Also planted some Maris Piper spud 2 rows and about 40 spuds in total,i think that will be it for potatoes this year. With the cabbages i planted i covered them with plastic bottles just to give them a little protections, good job i had plenty stored away in the shed. I Will wait a little while for them to grow then i will take the bottles off and replace with some netting, then use the bottles for something else.

Got a few bits done today

Been to the allotment for a few hours today I've managed to plant some beetroot which was growing in the greenhouse, also planted some garlic which i had moved from plot 18 a little while ago. With the warmer weather i have been leaving some of my seeds out side to harden up a little, then putting them back in the greenhouse late at night. I have used an old dog cage to put the flower and veg seeds in during the day so the birds don't start to eat them, then if i don't get back in time at least i will have some seeds to come back to. Another thing which i have sorted out is the shed at the top end of the allotment, i moved the table from the bottom shed to the top shed now i have a shed that looks like a shed. Oh yeah i forgot to say that my 1st spuds are starting to come through.

Been today .

I have been to the allotment a few days this week mainly to water the some of the seeds and veg, only problem I neglected some of the seeds that needed re-planting. So I managed to go today and re-plants a few things but still have a few things to sort out,I will sort out the next time go to the allotment. I did manage to move a bench from the bottom shed to the top shed, it needed to be trimmed a little to fit so now have a nice bench in top shed.so the shed at the bottom will be used for storage for surplus wood for odd jobs.I also picked up a mates kitchen window so I can strip down and use as a cold frame, will take a pic of it so I can show you it's bloody massive.

Been Busy Few Days

It been a busy few days at the allotment I've spent a few hours at the allotment  but seem not to done a lot, i have planted a few things over the last couple of days but not as much as i wanted. The time seems to pass so fast while i am at the allotment, i know we have a chat but still not a lot being done. Ive have planted some more onions which are Red Karmel onions which i have grown from seed, sowed some spring onion straight into the soil also planted some leeks. A lot of the seeds in the green house are coming on very well but not to sure when to plant them so i will have to ask or have a look around, the dwarf beans are doing very well so are Savoy + Celtic Cabbage, Courgettes, Cabbages, Melons.I have sorted the cold frame out a little so i can try and grow some melons, the seeds are coming on very well so i will keep you informed on how the melons do.

Short visit today.

Went to the allotment just to have a quick check all seems to be fine for what I can see, check plot over and the shed and greenhouse. I sowed some more leeks only because only a few have grown in the trays in the green house, while checking the seeds in the greenhouse I noticed that the melon seeds have started to pop through which I got from www.vegatableseeds.net, I am trying all sorts of seeds to see what will grow and what the family will eat.

I will not get chance to go tomorrow going to be a little busy but will spend either Saturday or Sunday at the allotment, I have a few jobs to sort out over the weekend like sort the sheds out and get it in to some order.I will sort some more seeds out to plant if not try and clear the greenhouse of some of the seeds which are growing nicely like the onions.

its been a while.

Its been a week now since i last blogged its not because i didn’t want to blog it that I’ve been busy at work and trying to sort the new allotment out, also what doesn’t help is that my internet has been too slow to even load a page to make matters worse my phone has packed up. Any way I have signed new contracts with the chap I am swapping my old plot with, just waiting for the council to sort the paper work out.
I managed to get to the plot a few times over last week and get it rotovated and weeded again so I have had a blank sheet to work with, I have decide to split the plot into three sections so I have some idea what to plant and which section to put it all in. We have moved most of my junk from the other plot to the new one didn’t realise how much I had; I think I may need to bin some of the junk to make some space in the shed.
Quite a few of my seeds have started to come through a lot now so I will have to start to replant them and start to fill my three sections up, I think I have overdone it on onions though well I think I have anyway.
