Sorted seeds out

Finally sat down and sorted seeds out for each month of sowing, going on past years I didn't take much notice. I know the dates are a guide line only  so I've always used that sown early, will try and hold back a little longer this year. I could move to warmer parts of the country  and sow early then move back once we have growth,or sneak the seeds in the conservatory or near the windows. I have more luck winning the lottery than sowing seeds in the house, end of the day if sow early I may lose a few plants and most of them will take time to grow. I may just wait and do them once it get warmer and the right time,I'll only get upset If I start early and lose them all. Just need to relax and chill out.

Wine and beer time

It isn't that I haven't got any wine but I though I'd make some more, only made some more rhubarb wine which I've started drinking last years batch this week. It's been bottled about 6months and it's real nice,so I thought I'd do some more because I had some spare in the freezer. I have some brambles in the freezer which I will do another time, not short of wine so can wait for that one.

I've also been making more beer kits over the last week because my stocks are running low,at the moment I do like the beer over the wine but will have the wine at a slower rate. I've made this week is a coopers IPA and a coopers stout, last week I barrelled up a Woodfordes wherry so getting quite stocked up. Nice .

Herb seeds

My herb seeds came on Friday so had to pick up from the post office,I got the seeds from www.vegetableseeds.net .

Not much done this weekend

Only been to the allotment for a couple of hours this weekend, the weather was a bit rubbish so that spoilt it. Only thing I did was try and sort some of the fence out, we've put a bottom rail on and some of the top rail then ran out of timber. Will strip some more pallets down when I get chance, at least it will stop people walking across the plot. Well all they have to do is either climb over the fence or open the gate,I will sort this section out then try and straighten the rest.

Over the last few year I've tried to grow garlic I managed it the first year, but last year it didn't grow at all for some reason. I don't know if it was to cold or it got water logged and rotted, so this year I've tried again with  new bulbs to plant. I planted loads in the soils and covered with a little mulch, also planted some in pots next to the greenhouse. The ones in the soil not growing but that could be wet soil or it's cold, the ones in the pots are growing and the rooted are coming through the bottom of the pots. Think the pots are out of the rain and wind so it's helped them along, will have to replant them when I get chance to go and play on the allotment.

Silly time again.

Well silly time at the allotment again we have these moments, well I do anyway I don't see other plot holders playing silly games. Think i need to grow up I think, nahhhh think I'll stay the same. So I'd thought I'd have a dry bath and use the cable reels for entertainment, well my attempt at pole dancing. Don't tell the committee.

Water butt and bath

The other week I picked up a bath that someone was throwing away,so I took it and going to use it in the greenhouse to hold water. The bath is now sunk in the soil and it's nice and snug,we just have to get the water in. We decided to collect the water in a barrel then transfer to the bath via piping,we dug a hole for the barrel sorted the guttering and sorted some pipe work. When we got it all sorted we then stood back and had a look at out nice work, then we thought we could of just put a U bend on then guttering and straight into the bath. So we spent a few hours digging / screwing / knocking and could of done it in half the time,so next time think we may sit down and draw a plan first instead of jumping straight in.

Sorry for the amount of photos

Upset and ok

On the odd time I went to the allotment this week I didn't do much, I drove through the gates and so a big pile of leafs in front of the toilet block. So I grabbed my barrow and started to fill my compost bins up and now have plenty of leafs,Still might get more and piss the rest offffffffffff. People complain that everything get dropped at the front end of the site, but no one see the tractor driver tell him to drop it around the corner. Another thing to upset me is that the better half had bought onions and leeks from a shop, knowing full well that I had them growing on my plot.

Bramble wine

I picked some bramble last year and made some wine from them and also froze some, over Xmas I was told to use them or loose them as we needed the space. So I had to defrost them and get them ready to make some wine,so I ended up making 6 bottles in total to add to the others I have already done. Don't know if I even like it yet so will have to wait a while before trying,I printed some basic labels and stuck them to the bottles will have to get some better ones.
