Little more done.

I sorted some old decking out to use as sides for the path towards the leaves,it will also run along side the polytunnel once it been built. I have nearly done one side of the path just have to stake it down,once the other side is done i will leave to carpet tiles down and put sheeting and bark down. Just saves us walking on the soil all of the time,then I can work out the size of the tunnel / greenhouse and flower bed at the side of the tunnel.

Whilst I had a little time spare I raked over the section the onions and garlic are trying to grow in, i got rid of the weeds and the odd onion by accident it also broke up the soil on top from being compacted down with the snow we had.

Oh we found this rat in the rat trap.

Can't get nothing done.

When I go to the plot I sometimes take juke with me ,only problem is i can't get anything done. He either just follows me around wanting to play or wants his ball throwing,I don't mind taking him gives me company I just have to learn him how to plant things.

Strawberries

I had few strawberry plants that I had saved from last year in the greenhouse,I decided to tidy the bed up and plant them out when it was warm. I know it maybe a little early to plant out but you have to try these things,it isn't that I was short of space in the greenhouse think it was the warm weather confusing me, I did weed and rake the soil over then i planted about 20+ plants,I covered them up with some leaves and will leave them along for a bit.

Next little build

I have decided to build a polytunnel / another greenhouse on my little plot,the part it going to get built on was earmarked for flowers. I will have space to put some flowers but not as many,but will put some more flowers with the bulbs I planted last year so alls not lost .

The new build is going to be built out of 4 large pallets just need 2 more that make the bottom,the curved part for the top is out of the round section from a trampoline already have 4 sections may get some more. Then covered in Perspex from work to enclose it then either leave it clear,or cover with some sheeting to make a tunnel.

Going to build it near the path so if its a tall one it won't cast a shadow on the next plot,with the space at the back of it I'm making another section to collect more leaves.


Will be sorting a bark path out so we can get to the leaves and save walking on the mud,I have put some carpet tiles down as a temp path till I get the other one sorted.

Little growth going on.

Had a quick visit to the plot yesterday and went with a list of jobs to do and did a little,what I ended up doing was I gave the greenhouse a quick wash. Also collected some of the leaves the council had left for us,well only collected a few barrow loads of them. I composted all the white cabbages I had left,non of them was any good because the birds had been at them.

I also noticed while at the allotment a few of the bulbs I planted last year had started to grow,even the rhubarb is starting to show it's little head. Few of the onions I planted last year are starting to grow,but the garlic hasn't not shown any sign as of yet.

New part to the posh shed

On plot 43 the posh plot with the shed has put up a posh bookshelf,he has put some books on it which he doesn't mind the mice reading. I will have to buck my ideas up and get my shed cleaned out soon,will have to come up with some ideas on how to beat his.

Who lives in a shed like this.

I had a quick visit to the allotment today after missing it for over a week,so I decided to take juke just for a quick walk around. I knew Keith had been tidying his shed out the week before and painted his shed roof,when I popped and had a look today I was in for a shock. Think i will have to get my posh clothes on just to visit my plot,here are some pics of his little shed.

Rent increase

Got my letter from council saying that the rents going up on the allotment this year, last year it was £30.75 and included £5 water. This year it's £34.50 + £5 water so it's around £9 a plot extra,mine will be double with it being a double size. Not complaining i don't mind paying it,i get my money's worth of veg and peace and quiet.
