Feels like I've lost interest

I don't know if it's the weather we've been having and put a damper on things or it's just me,but I want to go and play on the plot but can't be bothered to go. I know I've only dug half the plot over but going to try some different ways to improve the soil, but with me having at the moment tennis elbow and maybe arthritis in my arm its going to be a long slog. I'm hoping once I start growing in the next few months, i will be excited as I was on the first day of owning an allotment.

I've got all my seeds now for what I want for this season, unless I see something else that I fancy growing. All onion and spuds have been bought but may get some more onions,as I am on my last half bag of onions as we speak so will have to get shop bought ones soon. I have planted some onions at the end of last year to get an early crop, but I don't think these are doing well but will have to check them out soon.

Sorry for moaning.

Few snow pictures

More pictures of the snow filled allotment.

Spuds and onions

It's that time of year again to get the potatoes and onions sorted, this year I bought Sturon and turbo onions also Pentlans/Desiree /Maris peer potatoes. I've grown few of these before and done ok so I'm going to try some new ones as well. Last year I did ok on the potatoes we had enough but the size let them down, same as the onions we had enough but not the size we are still eating them now though.

Leeks and cabbages

Had a quick visit to the allotment to see how its going with all the snow,I know all the plots look nice and all the same but all will be visible soon when melted. All I could see on my plot was the odd leek popping through the snow, also the odd cabbage that's left the white one are no good but red maybe ok.

Little snow picture

Just a snap of the allotment in the snow from beginning of the week,It will have more snow on it now and all plots will look the same.

It's Been a while

It's a while since my last post couldn't do much on the plot due to the weather ,also I've been a bit under the weather so not done a lot at all. Think we had a good few days a week or so back in between the rain and snow, would of been good to get some little bits done but not late now. Anyway onwards and forwards we must make a start for this veg feast of growing, I've gone through all my seeds and sorted them out on what to plant each month. On the pack instruction it says plant from this date forward, but that depends which part of the country you are in South seems to plant early and north a little later. I cant wait to get started and reaping the rewards later on in the year, going to try and grow a little more than last year but saying that i said the same last year.

Do I or don't I

I managed to gain another bath for the allotment but don't know what to do as of yet, I either make another pond or a big bird bath or give it away.

Quick plot shot

Just a quick photo of my plot from bottom and top, just a little weeding left to and then sorted. Whoop whoop .

Compost

I've moved my compost from
One side to the other,I didn't think it was working but it's looking quite good. I still have a little bit to add to it but may start a fresh batch for next year, still have half a bag from last year to use.

Few free flowers I think

As I was taking the dog for a walk along normal route past some shop back yards, I noticed some flower that had been in pots but thrown over the fence. It looked like the shop was trying to get rid of them through the fencing, so I picked some of them up and took to the allotment and potted in some pots. I don't know what the plants are but couldn't let them go to waste,if the shops don't want them they should just give them away.

Last of the carrots

Well that's all my carrots took up now till I grow a few more, I did have a better year so hoping next one will be as good as this one. Some of the carrots had been eaten by the slugs and had big holes all over them, one of them looked real big and i was chuffed till I turned it over and it had been eaten.

I also took up a few more leeks which had growing slowly in the corner,I have about 6 leeks left to pick which I will pick this week. I will have to make sure I give the leeks deeper holes to grow in and wider, the leeks was nice but not very thick.

Happy New Year.

Happy New Year to you all hope you had a good one, hope we have a good growing season this year. I'm going to try a few new thing so fingers crossed it goes ok,if not i won't try it again.
