Had a few hours at the plot.

Had a few hours at the plot today couldn't do much outside due to the rain, so spent the time re-potting some things in the greenhouse. I manages to repot Courgettes, cucumber,Pumpkin and sweet peppers,it won't be long before some these get put into the soil.

Strange week.

Been to the plot a few times this week to carry on with the weeding it's all I seem to do,i start at one end by the time I get to the other I have to start again at the beginning. It's been quite hot the last few weeks so couldn't really plane much because the soil was so hard and dry, some parts of the soils have big cracks in it that big my hands fit inside the crack. So we pray for rain to come and when we get it like today the soil it to wet to walk on,so either way we are never happy what weather we get we can't win. Some pics of some of the things already growing, broad beans are doing well- sugar snap peas are hit and miss- pea onwards doing ok- I have one carrot growing.

Just a little done.

I've been to the plot a couple of times since I've been back from my few days away,I haven't done a lot apart from some weeding and greenhouse work. I weeded among the spuds and peas but I think I may of lost a few of the peas, well the ground is that hard the hoe just slips across the soil taking out plants and weeds.

We had to put some sheeting over the greenhouse to try and bring down the temp inside, everything was starting to look unwell with the heat and sun. I've been today and the plants seem to be a lot better now so just need to get them in the soil.

I went to a friends house today and started to pick some gravel up for my allotment, he is sorting his garden out and throwing the gravel away so I said I would use it. I'm going to use it around the pond to tidy it up a bit, I have two big cement buckets of gravel to pick up next week. His neighbour has a garden full of gravel also so I maybe getting that as well, which I will use along the fence to control the weeds and make it look a bit better.

Last thing is bird watch on the allotment and the birds are doing very well, had a quick peep through the gap and the birds are quite big now.

Bit of weeding done.

Over the last few days I've tried to get as much weeding done as possible, the weather hasn't been to bad so manages to do a little. I've still got a bit to weeding to do but not as much as I did, will get some more done the next time I'm at the plot.

Whilst at the plot weeding I've tried to do some other bits and bobs,I have started to level the soil around the pond (bath) but its so hard to dig it will take a little longer than I thought. Also trying to grow some flowers to fill some hanging baskets and pots for the home and ofd one for the allotment,I know even less about flowers than i do about veg.

Keith from the next plot has made a beehive to attract some bees, not to make honey I don't think just some place for the bees to live Will let you know if it works.

Few more pictures.

Few more pictures from inside the greenhouse.

Repotting a few things

Been a few time to the plot and not really done a lot apart from repotting a few things, still have a few things to repot so will do them over the next few days. The cabbages / swedes / turnips, and sprouts don't look that good at the moment,I planted them our over the last 3 weeks. Since I'd put them out its been windy/raining/sunshine so most of them are laying down,I did get told that they will pick up over time so I hope so.

I think I may of over done it in tomato plants which i repotted,I think I have about 16 plants I know once I get some toms on them I will end up scoffing them anyway. I've took some pictures of the seeds groins on the greenhouse, some of the seeds are mine and some are Keith's.

Not forgot to blog

I've not forgotten to blog just just been a tad busy and falling asleep, I've been to the plot and done a few bits. It's either wet or dry no happy medium, everything getting bigger in the greenhouse and needs to get out out. I've started to repot a lot of the seeds already growing, but running out of space in the greenhouse.

Red Drumhead cabbages repotted.
Live post from plot.

Few bits coming through.

My Pumpkin seeds are coming through all of a sudden, never tried it before so try something new once it grows. Sunflower seeds are saying hello on the greenhouse,as for radish which never grew last year but ok this. Last year I put in the soil direct and it got eaten by flies, this year it's in greenhouse in a drainpipe and it works.

More pics of the ducks.

Few more pictures of ducks.

We had a visit.

We had a little visit today from a pair of ducks, i had to crawl on my belly to get some pictures. Will have to do 2 posts to get the ducks on,Keith's been waiting for weeks to take a photo of the ducks. The day the ducks came Keith didn't have his camera ready.

Pond update.

Had a few hours at the allotment so I thought I would do some more on the pond, I collected some wood up from around the plot and tried to build a frame around the bath, I not good at woodwork but it has made it look a little better. Going to make a path to the pond out of some pavers, the pavers has concrete stuck to the bottom of them but I removed it. I should of painted the wood first but will have to do it some other day.

I sowed some parsnips straight into the soil direct like I did last year, I've also got some growing in tubs in the greenhouse which need to plant out.i also put out a row of Manchester turnips vs and got them covered up, just hope the turnips are still standing when I go back.
Oh I forgot I dug up my last leeks which I had forgotten about only ones that are left are the ones going to seed.
