First red cabbage.

Ive took home my first red cabbage I just spotted it in under the netting, the rest are coming on so hopefully can start to enjoy them as well. While at the allotment I did a little more digging and put some sealer on the Guttering i put up over the weekend, I hope to do some more digging tomorrow once I leave work well thats the plan. Over the last few days I've been having Salad for my dinner at work with all the produce I've taken from the allotment, also when we do the shopping we are only buying the things I'm not growing it does feel good saving money on fresh produce.

Guttering

Bit of Guttering put up on the shed.

Produce to fill the fridge

Some bits taken home over the lasts week or so.

Onion storage.

I've had to adjust my onion storage because i couldn't reach the onions with the grills blocking access, so I've took some grills away and use bricks to support the grills and leave a gap

Not blogged in a while

Not been blogging for a couple of weeks due to me being on holiday and having a slight accident at the allotment, well the accident was when i was cutting the bushes down and I got a thorn stuck in my arm then i couldn't move it for a few days. So not a lot has happen apart from doing a little bit at a time,I'm a lot better now so I can crack on with the jobs that need doing.

On the times I have been it's to gather some veg up to take home and do a little weeding, but with the rain we have just had i a lot of weeding to sort out. I've managed to do a lot more today by doing some weeding and sorting some Guttering out on the shed,it may not look pretty but it will do the job. (I hope)

Onions laid flat

Onions laid flat

Ive pulled up most of the onions now just waiting for them to dry out, I have a few in some trays outside and the rest in baskets and hung up in the shed. Once the onions are up it leaves quite a big space empty not sure what I'm going to do with it,may just dig over and get ready for next year.

I have to throw 3 buckets full of onions away due to them all going rotten underneath,I have managed to save some but a lot are really bad mainly red onions I will be throwing away.

Some more veg taken home.

Just a couple of hours.

I went to the allotment for a couple of hours yesterday I was rushing around trying to get as much done as possible, but it didn't work I just did a little bit. I managed to tie up some more onions and put them in the shed, I won't have enough space in the shed to put all the onions in so will have to put in trays.

I took home some veg to fill the cupboards i also gave some of it away to family and friends,we had our veg today and we are all stuffed I could even go to the allotment.

Good day yesterday.

Went straight to the allotment yesterday to carry on weeding from work, it was a lot easier to do once the rain had soaked down. My brown recycling bin for garden waste is full so I have to wait for it to get emptied first before I can fill it again, the better half won't let me put it in the car so I have to wait.

I've started to string up the onions in the shed to try and dry them off, I have some in baskets but have to keep moving them to check to if they are ok. I think I will need a bigger shed to put the onions in once I have took them all up,may have to bring them home and use the sheds at home to dry them off.

My tomato plants are doing well and getting quite a lot off them but I seem to be eating a lot of them before I bring them home,I can't complain at least I'm getting my 5 a day veg intake.

Beetroot

Some veg taken home.

Melon

Garlic

Weeding and produce.

Been going to the allotment to try and tackle the weeds but they seem to be winning, now that we've just had all this rain the weeds love it. I know we all want the rain to water our produce and fill the water barrels up, it's a shame a weed killer is not mixed with it. I've been bringing home quite a bit over the last couple of weeks and trying to get the family to eat more,I've not eaten this much veg in quite a while to tell you the truth I love it.

When I'm at the allotment I eat quite a lot of veg while I'm pottering around, I think I've eaten all the sugar snap peas and had a few tomatoes and spring onions.I've given a lot of veg away because I've grown to much, but i have learnt my lesson for next year.

Few little bits

Some more weeds

Some weeds

Not a lot done.

Been to the allotment over the weekend to try an get some weeding done, but it was a little dry and hard to do anything and warm.So the time I spent at the allotment was trying to give it a tidy up and sort some veg out to bring home, took some small savoys home Celtic cabbage also some carrots onions and marrow + some spuds. We had dinner out of some of the produce and made some soup with the rest.

I had a quick walk around the allotment site and it's still covered in weeds and loads of empty plots, I did take a video of the allotment site but the file size is too big. We have heard the waiting list for the allotments is 1500 people, the plots are covered in weeds but the council have no spare money to come and cut them all down. With the weeds being so big people are scared to make a start on cutting it down, or if they do make a start no one ever turns up again to finish it off. I will stop moaning now.
