Not much to report

Been to the allotment over the weekend well Saturday and a quick visit Sunday,done a little digging and trimmed some of the bushes down. I didn't go Monday because i was working day time and night time,and Tuesday was tired from working the night shift + it rained a little. I'm hoping to go for a few hours on thursday and Friday when I leave work,then go over the weekend.
When I went on sunday I got a phone call before i set off saying the kids had been on during Saturday night, once I got to have a look they had been in the shed and open 2 bottles of slug pellets and thrown all over the floor.Don't know if anything had been taken until I need it.

Quick visit from work.

Went straight from work yesterday to do some weeding,got a bit done not as much as i wanted. Had to leave early from digging due to the heavens opening up and getting a little wet,hopefully going back today to do some more.

Not a lot done

Had a quick visit to the allotment to give it a check over, also try and finish some weeding. Everything seems ok up to now touch wood, we have someone from the council and a local MP and police having a walk around the allotment soon. I know a lot won't be done because the council has no money, and nobody else is reporting anything anyway I will let you know the outcome. I did a little digging while I was at the allotment but i didn't do a lot hoping to do more tomorrow,once I've dug it over I will be covering it up.

I've finished top and tailing the onions ready for storage and thats all the onions from the allotment,now I can enjoy my crop over the coming months.

A post from last week that didn't post.

Had a quick visit to the allotment today after i got a text saying someone had been on, when I got to the allotment I'd noticed some marrows smashed on the floor. I went inside the shed and check and two bunches of onions missing well around 14 missing,so I have decided to take all produce home. So I had to bring home Marrows, onions, spuds then try and find space in the shed.So will have to report it to the police later on and get a log number, on a lighter note the dog was playing with a marrow.

Mice or rats.

Last week I took most of the onions and potatoes home for storage,well it stopped people helping themselves to the produce. I had forgot i had some more onions in storage outside,so I went to have a look at them and found out mice or rats had been at them. I removed the crates and moved the top onions which wasn't touched,but the bottom tray was covered in soil were the pests had been digging. I removed the soil and onions and put the onions in a tray in the shed,so if someone wants to pinch some onions they can because the the pests have been all over them.( I've took the top ones home)

A bit more done.

Been on holiday this week and I have been to the allotment few times, well less that I wanted but can't complain. I've dug a bit more over and covered it with some sheeting,reason If I don't by the time I finish the rest it will be covered again.

Free seeds for next years planting.

Got my free seeds today thanks to Vegblogs and www.vegetableseeds.net,looking forward to getting them planted and some new vegetables to try.

Spuds sorted and police informed.

Just sorted my potatoes out the good and the bad ready for storage in the shed, not got a lot of room in the shed at home would of left them at the allotment but they keep going missing. I've got three bags of potatoes to store and some loose ones i need to use first, also 4 bags of onions to store and some loose ones to use first. Not forgetting 3 baskets of marrows to find space for in a small shed,last thing I filled a form out on the police website regarding the intruders we had the other night.

Beetroot storage

I've pulled up some beetroot and want to store some to use later on, going to try them vacuum bags that get all the air sucked out of them. I know you can use soft sand to store them in then reuse the sand,hopefully I can do the same with these bags well got to give it a go.

A little more done.

I put some more posts in on my little fence I'm trying to make,I got about 80ft done well thats just one rail going across. I need to get a bottom rail then some slats to finish it all off,hopefully I've got some pallets coming in December not sure how many though.

I took some veg home today for Sunday dinner and whats left I made some soup,in the soup was celery-white cabbage-savoy cabbage -onion-carrots-marrow and some chicken stock. It look ok but taste even better So I have got 4 tubs full of it and I have frozen it,now I have some dinners made up now.

Been to the allotment over the last couple of days to try and sort the fence out,I did want to make a fence that's all the same. But as I get told its only a allotment so I have used some old fencing that I have had lying around. Ive put some sections of fencing up at the front and started to make some panels from some pallets at the bottom end, hopefully it might stop people coming onto the allotment.

Someone has been on

Someone has been on the allotment again over the last couple of days,because my alarm for my shed has been pinched and some items were put together ready to be taken.

Finished digging spuds.

Went to the allotment yesterday to finish digging the spuds up and I've done it, so all I have to do is clean them up and sort them out good and bad. I have had a few spuds not many big one but plenty of small one, will try and grow some larger ones next year. So now I can concentrate on getting the plot ready for next year and sorting out what I'm going to grow,I have won some seeds so that has saved me some money and I can't wait for next year to start,going to try a few new things just hope the family will eat it all.

I forgot to buy some garlic to plant but I had some left from last year,I also was given some organic garlic someone didn't want so I planted it and its started to grow.

Quick visit

Had a quick visit today to the allotment and wish I had more time, I've dug up more of my main crop potatoes only got about 5ft left then that's it. The spuds I've dug up are Maris Piper out of the row and half which I dug up only about 50% I can store,most of the spuds had holes in and were scabby will check them out once dry.

I've had a few potatoes this year do i can't complain just hope we had some larger ones for jackets, am going to order so new spuds for next year which are going to be big enough for jackets. I'm hoping to get to the allotment sometime this week to crack on with the last bit of potatoes to left to dig up,then start to sort the rest of the plot out of the weeds and a general tidy up.

Last of the tomatoes

That's it the last lot of the tomatoes have been taken home that will be it for now well next year, I'm going to plant a lot more next year and freeze them instead of getting tin toms. This year I had about nine tomato plants which took over one side of the greenhouse, hopefully getting another greenhouse to share with plot next door.

I've still got 2 rows of main crop spuds to dig up hopefully dig them up this weekend, I've stored my marrows in the shed hope with my onions hope they last in the shed. Also going to pull up the beetroot which are not the size of footballs and store them,going to try and store them in some vacuum bags well try it this once anyway.
